Future Grand Chute Park options

I have been the Town Board liason to the Park Commission the past four years. The Commission is constantly looking for ways to improve green space in Grand Chute. Today, we will tour a little known piece of park property and discuss ways to improve the park. It is known as Art Lecker Wilderness Park. It is located at the end of Gillett St., north of Hwy JJ. The park consists of 42.2 acres of undeveloped land that was the location of the Town's landfill operation.  Possible uses for the property that are listed in the Park, Trail, Open Space and Recreation Plan are an archery range or a dog park.  Other possible uses that have been discussed at recent Park Commission meetings are a mountain bike trail or a cross country ski/walking trail system.

The Park Commission will discuss future plans for this park at tonight's Parks Commission meeting.

Construction updates

You may have noticed construction going on near the town hall, at the intersection of CTH A and USH 41. This will be a new senior housing complex. Also, Appleton Alliance Church has begun their expansion. The 120,000-square-foot addition will include an 1,800-seat Christian worship center, gym, finished athletic fields and a larger Discovery Land, a children's ministry area for ages 6 weeks to sixth grade. The work will be done in phases and is expected to and 18-24 months.
