Town Board Vacancy Selection Process

There will be an open seat for a Supervisor because the final candidates for Town Chairman are both Supervisors. There was a call for applications, and a meeting has been scheduled to appoint a new Supervisor. The meeting will take place Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 5:30pm. The following gives you an idea of how the selection process works:

CANDIDATE SELECTION PROCESS
1. Each candidate listed below will be allowed three minutes for a verbal
presentation to the Board. Candidates will be asked to step to the
podium as their name is called by the Town Chairperson:

a. Sherri McNamara
b. Bruce Sherman
c. Ron Tank
d. Joan Haag
e. Tony Awofeso

2. Town Supervisors and the Town Clerk will vote by signed ballot. Tally
of votes will be conducted by the Deputy Town Clerk. If a tie vote
occurs, 2-2-1, a re-vote will occur. Only the names of those with a tie
vote will be voted on until one receives the most votes. The other
candidates will have been considered eliminated from the process.

3. The candidate selected by the most votes will take an oath of office
administered by the Town Clerk and begin their term at the April 19,
2011 regular meeting

Kiwanis Pancake breakfast nets $$ for Grand Chute elementary schools

Remember that pancake breakfast back in January that the Grand Chute Kiwanis held at O'Charley's? Because of the tremendous response (estimate of around 400 attendees), we were able to present the principals from Badger and Houdini elementary schools checks of $750 EACH. The donations will be used to purchase smartboards for classrooms.

Town Talk back from small hiatus

You may have noticed posts have been somewhat limited the past few months. My full time job consists of building custom homes, and I've been working long hours (taking advantage of my grandfather's favorite saying of "making hay while the sun shines). I'm going to publish an array of backlogged posts. There's a lot going on in the town! And, I'd like to start a series of how the state biannual budget is going to affect Grand Chute specifically. Please email me if you have specific questions you would like addressed!

Town Board Vacancy

The Town of Grand Chute is currently accepting letters of interest for the appointment of Town Board Supervisor (appointed term expiring April 2012).  The vacancy will occur after the April 5, 2011 local election. Town Board meetings are held the first and third Tuesday each month at 7:00 p.m. and will include additional meeting requirements throughout the term.  The appointed term will begin May 2, 2011.

Letters of interest and resumes should be mailed to the attention of: Town Clerk Karen L. Weinschrott, 1900 W. Grand Chute Blvd., Grand Chute, WI, 54913-9613, and shall be received by March 25, 2011, for consideration.

The letters will be forwarded to members of the Town Board, who will appoint a new Board Member. The appointment will last until the April 2012 spring election.
